parent agrees to volunteer up to 10 hours of their time. |

$50.00 and the parent agrees to volunteer up to 5 hours of their time. |

parent is taken off the Volunteer Coordinators list. They are accountable
for 0 hours. |

Medical & Illness |
| |
|
Parents are expected to use the following guidelines to help
decide whether a child is too
sick to attend the Centre for that day: |
| |
|
"Needs to stay home" symptoms include: |
| |
|
--appears to have a fever
--vomiting or diarrhea
--very congested cough or cold
--complaints of a bad headache or sore throat
--a suspicious rash or weeping eyes
--red or runny eyes/ears
--lice |
| |
|
|
| |
|
You are asked to call the Centre if your child is ill and won't
be attending. Please inform the staff at this time of the nature of your
child's illness so that we can be alert to similar symptoms in the other
children and the possible cause. |
| |
|
|
| |
|
"Can attend Centre" symptoms include: |
| |
|
--runny nose
--slight cough
--slight headache or stomach ache
--mild symptoms (use common sense) |
| |
|
|
| |
|
Staff are aware if your child is not feeling his/her usual self. If your
child develops any of the more severe symptoms during the day, you will
be notified to take the child home. If the parent cannot be contacted, the
Emergency contact person will be notified. We will do our best to comfort
and reassure your child until your arrival. |
| |
|
|
| |
|
It is our policy that children too sick to play outdoors should remain
at home. |
| |
|
|
| |
Outside Play |
|
| |
|
It is policy to allow children to go outside daily in fall and spring,
weather permitting. This policy is a result of a number of considerations.
First of all, the centre does not have the staff to allow one staff member
to remain inside to supervise one or two children. Secondly, the staff feel
that it is in the best interest of the child to go outside daily. The staff
assure you that great care is taken to watch that your child does not become
cold or wet. In most cases, if your child is too ill to go outside, then
it would probably be best if your child remain home that day. Certainly
individual cases are open for discussion with the Director. Please do not
hesitate to do so. Children should come with appropriate clothing
and footwear for the weather (dressing in layers is best) and with sunscreen
and/or insect repellent already applied during the fall and spring months. |
| |
|
|
| |
|
All children are to go outside unless: |
| |
|
1 . The outside temperature is below -10 degrees C
2. The wind chill is below -10 degrees C
3. The child is taking prescription medication
4. The outside weather is stormy |
| |
|
|
| |
|
During winter months staff will schedule one day per week for
each class to go outside. Parents are asked to provide appropriate clothing
for that day, including hats, mittens, snowsuit (or equivalent) and warm
boots. |
